URGENT!
At the beginning of June 2025, a tree fell on the Haven where we house our rescue dogs. The Haven has been damaged beyond repair and demolition is being planned. As such, we need to have everything, along with our rescue dogs, removed by August 9th or 10th.
Debbie, Carter and Roscoe are currently being housed in the Haven. Akuna is being housed at the animal hospital, along with Izzy. Akuna and Izzy take up most of the room at the animal hospital, so fitting more dogs will be very difficult. We desperately need to have our rescue dogs find their perfect homes. We have a lot invested in our rescues and would rather they not have to stay in cramped quarters.
If you cannot adopt or foster Akuna, PLEASE share her bio.
Bio:
Akuna is a sweet, playful girl who has been with us for over a year - and she is so ready for her forever home! She is loving, fun, and great on walks (as long as squirrels do not get involved!). She is very intelligent and quite opinionated. Akuna would do best as the only dog in the house so she can soak up all your love. Her perfect adopter needs to be someone well-versed in canine behavior and experienced in handling.
She was initially brought to the rescue after she was found with injuries to her neck. (We believe she had been attacked by another dog.) A good samaritan found her and brought her to us to take care of her.
We think when Akuna first came to the rescue, she was very nervous and in a lot of pain. Her neck was extremely swollen and she was sore all over. After antibiotics, pain medication and a lot of love and attention, she has continued to flourish into the wonderful dog she is now. She is a very silly girl with a great personality. Whenever she sees one of the rescue workers go into her room, she immediately jumps up and starts wiggling her big body, asking for pets.
Akuna loves to go on walks and play with toys. She has a little ball that she loves batting around her room and chasing after. She enjoys getting kisses and cuddles and big hugs. She loves going on walks and is great on a leash. One of Akuna’s favorite pastimes is watching squirrels through the window. She enjoys meeting new people, but is a little cautious when meeting men for the first time.
Come meet Akuna and see if she is the one you have been missing. She has waited long enough.
