Adopt a Pet for a Day
Come By and Take One of Our Dogs or Cats with You for a Day,
or Even a Sleepover!
Socialization and exercise are very important for pets. This is especially true for animals living in a shelter. Our Adopt a Pet for a Day program is a great way to de-stress our rescues by giving them a break from the shelter. It allows you, as a volunteer, to get to know an animal’s personality, and allows the pet to become more socialized and be seen by potential new adopters.
During your outing, you will be given a leash/harness for dogs, and a crate for cats. Colbert Veterinary Rescue Services will also provide food/water bowls and blankets if needed.
To participate in our Adopt a Pet for a Day, you must be:
18 years of age or older with a valid photo ID
We also require at least a $5.00 donation toward the rescue once a consent form is signed
Doggy Dates
At CVRS, we have a wide variety of pups to fit whatever date you would like to go on. These dates can include, but are not limited to, hiking, eating at a dog-friendly restaurant, going to the park, or simply relaxing at your house.
If you do not have a dog in mind that you would like to take on your outing, we can place one with you depending on the type of activity you are planning to do.
CVRS asks that you have the pup back by 5:00 pm on the day of your outing.
Sleepovers
Having a pet sleepover is a great way to allow the pet to have a calm night after an eventful outing before returning to the rescue the next day. For our sleepovers, we can place a dog/cat based on the energy level you prefer. These slumber parties are also great for people who are on the fence about fostering! CVRS asks that you have the dog/cat back at 10 am the following day.
