Madison

Breed: Domestic Short Hair Tuxedo Mix
Age: 8 years old
Sex: Male
Color: Black and White

Madison has been at the rescue a very long time. He originally was part of a feral colony living near the rescue building with his mom and litter mates and was eventually trapped and brought inside.

Once he was inside, he tried his best to adjust in the cat room to being an indoor cat. At first he was very shy but after a while he would start to head butt our hands to get pets. He is an extremely sweet boy, but sometimes a little skittish around new people.

Madison started showing symptoms of a UTI and after we got that taken care of, we wanted to figure out a way to reduce his stress to prevent reoccurring UTIs. We decided since he was born outside and spent so long outside, he might be more comfortable being outside. Since it had been a while from when he lived outside, we started slowly by walking him on a harness outside first. Then we would let him have supervised play time and now he spends a good bit of his time outside and seems happier than ever. He sleeps in the sun and romps through the grass living his best life.

Madison would be a good cat if you are looking for and inside/outside cat, with a lot of land for him to run around on.

Madison is a sweet 8-year-old tuxedo kitty who was brought into the rescue after he was found by a good samaritan. Madison was hit by a car and left stranded on the road along with three kittens. Two of the kittens now live at the rescue as they are feral and will not let anyone touch them; however, after about a year's work, we have finally won Madison over.

Madison is still quite shy and takes a while to trust people, but once he does, he is ready to give you all of his love. Every day, Madison greets the rescue workers with a small dry meow and a “headbutt” to the legs. He LOVES wet food and tasty treats (which is one reason we were able to win him over), and he will make it known that feeding time is his favorite part of the day. If you sit and watch Madison, you will learn his quirks, which consist of headbutting anything and everything, running up to toys and then getting too scared to play with them, and chattering as he watches the birds outside.

Madison has come a long way since he was first brought here and he still has a long way to go. He will do best in a quiet and understanding home which will allow him to flourish even more.
